Mythos Ready Check
Gap analysis of attack surface, legacy code, patch times and critical ICT suppliers, mapped to DORA and to ECB expectations.
Mythos Ready is the Hyperion practice that prepares banks and financial intermediaries for cyber attacks carried out with Mythos and with the frontier AI models still to come. Supervisors will ask whether you are ready: we help you answer yes, with the evidence.
Readiness for AI-driven attacks is now on the agenda of the ECB and of the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia), with two deadlines: 31 October 2026 for significant banks and 31 December 2026 for less significant banks and intermediaries. What the two authorities are asking for.
Anthropic presented Mythos in April 2026 and uses it to find vulnerabilities in critical software. Since June, access has been extended to about 150 organisations in more than 15 countries, Italy included.

Supervisory Board Vice-Chair Frank Elderson said that lack of access to Mythos does not justify inaction, and that banks must greatly speed up the release of patches.

The ECB has indicated that cyber-AI readiness will be discussed with individual banks, not only at system level.

Banks remain responsible for the security of their ICT suppliers, consistent with the DORA regime on third parties. For those that outsource IT, this is the most delicate point.
The paradigm shift: minor vulnerabilities that today are fixed in long release cycles become exploitable in days, because a model can chain them and derive exploits from published patches.
Institutions that outsource their IT answer to supervisors just like large banks, but have less direct control over their systems. The contact person is usually the CISO or the head of IT.
Systems at outsourcers and little visibility on patch times. The starting point is the Mythos Ready Check.
Legacy code and long release cycles. Check, then a remediation Sprint.
Small IT teams and full DORA obligations. A Check on a reduced scope.
Audits coming from every client bank. Sprint and ongoing service.
The Check opens the relationship, the Sprint solves, Continuous keeps the institution ready for every new model.
Gap analysis of attack surface, legacy code, patch times and critical ICT suppliers, mapped to DORA and to ECB expectations.
Triage and remediation with Claude-assisted code review, redesign of patch management on ITSM processes, supplier audits and clauses on remediation times.
Continuous vulnerability scanning, patch velocity KPIs and updates with every release of more capable models.
What we do not promise: access to Mythos on the client's behalf. Mythos Ready is a consulting and remediation service, not the resale of AI models.
The Mythos Readiness Score summarises, from 0 to 100, the institution's readiness across six dimensions. It is calculated in the Check and updated in the ongoing service.
Average time between the publication of a vulnerability and its fix in production, by severity.
Services reachable from the Internet, obsolete components, weak configurations.
Share of unmaintained code, vulnerable dependencies, presence of an SBOM.
Clauses on remediation times, test evidence, right to audit.
Ability to detect and contain fast, automated attacks.
Role of the board, reporting, alignment with DORA.
Exposed. Immediate priority: the Sprint is recommended.
Partial. Significant gaps in one or two dimensions.
Mythos Ready. To be maintained with the ongoing service.
Members of the Claude Partner Network, with a certification path under way for the team.
Years of projects with Italian banking outsourcers and in managing security services in large banking groups.
PMP, PRINCE2 and ITIL certifications and experience on the main ITSM platforms, to bring patch velocity into existing workflows.
Continuous scanning and patch velocity KPIs make the service verifiable, with the tools best suited to the institution's context.
Specialised enough for the subject, agile enough for institutions that large consultancies consider too small.
Mythos Ready is the Hyperion S.r.l. practice that prepares banks and financial intermediaries for cyber attacks carried out with Mythos, Anthropic's AI model, and with the frontier models still to come. It includes a readiness check mapped to DORA and to ECB expectations, vulnerability remediation and an ongoing service that measures patch velocity over time.
Because the authorities have already set the deadlines: the ECB asked significant banks for an action plan against AI-enabled cyber threats by 31 October 2026, and the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia) asked less significant banks and intermediaries for a report with a work plan by 31 December 2026. The ECB has also made clear that lack of direct access to Mythos does not justify inaction. Frontier models find and chain vulnerabilities much faster: fixes that today wait for long release cycles become urgent.
No. Mythos Ready is a consulting and remediation service, not the resale of AI models or access to Mythos on the client's behalf. For code analysis and fixing, Hyperion uses the available Claude models, in line with the ECB's guidance to use the tools that already exist.
It is a score from 0 to 100 that summarises the institution's readiness across six dimensions: patch velocity, exposed surface, code and legacy, ICT suppliers, detection and response, governance. From 0 to 39 the institution is exposed, from 40 to 69 readiness is partial, from 70 to 100 it is Mythos Ready. It is designed to be read by the board and compared over time.
For small and medium-sized banks, cooperative credit banks (BCC), popolari banks, investment firms (SIM), asset management companies (SGR) and payment institutions, in particular those that outsource their IT, and for banking IT outsourcers that will have to answer audits from their client banks. The contact person is usually the CISO or the head of IT.
The Mythos Ready Check maps its findings to DORA requirements, including the regime on third-party ICT providers: the bank remains responsible for the security of its outsourcers, and the Sprint updates contracts with clauses on remediation times, test evidence and the right to audit.
From 3 to 4 weeks. It ends with a report for the board and the supervisor, the Mythos Readiness Score and a remediation roadmap with priorities.
